French philosopher Jean Baudrillard in his 'System of Objects' pointed out that
'....the object was the perfect domestic animal.' Like a pet dog or cat our favourite
furniture offers us unconditional love, a mirror to reassure us. Is comfort
all that furniture can offer us though?
Surely if film and literature can take us on adventures through all of our emotions
then furniture could do the same. If comfort were the sole objective of film then
the squidgy upholstered charms of Disney would have been it's limit.
