These
pieces are inspired by the presentation systems used in natural history
museums. Formal cabinet making in simple native timbers is combined with
organic matter such as lichen, dried flowers and grasses.
With
this series I offer small fragments of organic matter framed and protected by
glass. They are small reminders of the abandoned games of children - the butterfly
collections now replaced by panini sticker collections, the jars of metamorphing
tadpoles replaced by playstations. Whilst cruel, they gave us all a grounding
in
natural history.
